Sweet & Healthy: Tahini-Stuffed Dates

I love creating simple yet delicious recipes that combine traditional ingredients with modern touches. As a breakfast item we, Turkish people eat tahini with grape molasses together. I remember that my mother was trying to convince me that mix of tahini and grape molasses was an healthy form of that very famous sweet paste of hazelnut, sugar and cacao. But i was not convinced beacause for me there were not enough sugar in it. Later, I made my own tahini-molasses mixture and reached the ideal balance of sugar and fat. So today, I’m excited to share a quick and healthy treat inspired by this childhood memory: Tahini-Stuffed Dates!

It’s perfect as a sweet snack and it will only take you 6-7 minutes to make this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 5 dates
  • 5 teaspoons tahini

For the topping:

  • Grated coconut
  • 5 squares of dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)

Instructions

  1. Slice the dates in half and remove the pits.
  2. Fill each date with 1 teaspoon of tahini. Place them in the fridge for 5 minutes to firm up.
  3. Melt the dark chocolate using the double-boiler (bain-marie) method. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the dates.
  4. Sprinkle with grated coconut and return them to the fridge for 15 minutes to set.
Bon appétit!
